Release of A Trauma-Informed Approach: Guidance for WA State Government

A Trauma-Informed Approach: Guidance for WA State Government (the Guide) has been released to support State Government agencies build safer, more inclusive and resilient communities and workplaces.

Development of the Guide was led by the Mental Health Commission in collaboration with the Department of Communities, Department of Health, Department of Justice, Western Australia Police Force, Department of Education, the Aboriginal Health Council of Western Australia, and people with lived and living experience perspectives.

The Guide supports leaders and decision makers to consider and influence how their policies, services and workplaces can promote safety, wellbeing and trust.  It also outlines the shared principles and implementation domains that agencies can apply in ways that reflect their roles, responsibilities and operating contexts.

Development of the Guide meets a recommendation in the Ombudsman Western Australia’s Investigation into Family and Domestic Violence and Suicide Report.

The Guide was shaped by the strength and courage of people with lived and living experience and we are grateful for their contribution.
