Mental Health Commission
The Mental Health Commission supports several organisations to conduct training and workforce development on its behalf.
SafeSide Prevention Programs
SafeSide Prevention Programs are evidence-based interventions designed for first responder organisations, mental health services, youth services, and alcohol and other drug (AOD) workforces.
SafeSide Prevention Programs include:
A prevention program for first responders and justice organisations to strengthen and protect workplace teams through interactive training. This training reduces hidden suicide risk and creates a supportive environment that protects people, allowing team leaders to care for their people through systemic support rather than relying solely on individual detection and intervention.
Structured around the SafeSide Framework, this program provides evidence-based suicide prevention education for primary care, mental health, AOD, and youth services.
This program teaches evidence-based suicide-specific treatment that reduces suicidal ideation and emphasises a collaborative approach between clinicians and patients.
The training is for leaders responsible for reviews and responses to suicide-related incidents. The Restore Network provides leaders with resources and a network for collaborating with other external organisations to build a more restorative, just, and learning culture.

Mental Health First Aid
Mental Health First Aid is the help provided to a person developing a mental health problem or who is in a mental health crisis, until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis resolves. The 12-hour Mental Health First Aid course is run over two days and aims to improve mental health literacy across a ¬¬range of mental health conditions. There are specific programs for teenagers, young people, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and some ethnic communities.
