Stakeholder Engagement

Stakeholder engagement helps to ensure that the voices of people with lived and living experience, families, carers and communities shape a person-centred system that achieves better outcomes for all.

Background

The co-designed Working Together: Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drug Engagement Framework 2018–2025 (Engagement Framework) and accompanying Toolkit were designed to support government agencies, non-government organisations (including private sector entities), and community groups in fostering effective collaboration. Their purpose is to strengthen engagement and partnerships that lead to improved outcomes for people impacted by mental health challenges and/or alcohol and other drug use.

The Engagement Framework and Toolkit are embedded in how the Mental Health Commission (Commission) operates and guides our everyday interactions, ensuring engagement is meaningful, respectful and impactful. This commitment is further supported by the Working Together: Engagement Planning Guide, which offers practical steps to help plan and deliver inclusive engagement across mental health, alcohol and other drug and suicide prevention sectors.
