Mental Health Commission
Following a Chief Psychiatrist review in 2020, the State Government commissioned the Ministerial Taskforce into Public Mental Health Services for Infants, Children and Adolescents aged 0-18 years in Western Australia (ICA Taskforce) to outline a whole of system plan for infant, child and adolescent services.
The ICA Taskforce Final Report was released in 2022, outlining 32 recommendations under eight key focus areas to transform the public infant, child and adolescent mental health system.
Since then, the State Government has invested $235.3 million into the Infant, Child and Adolescent (ICA) System Transformation Program to help make meaningful changes to the lives and supports for children, young people and their families.
Earlier this year, the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) commenced a performance audit into the progress of the ICA System Transformation Program where they made two recommendations.
The Mental Health Commission accepted these recommendations, one of which was to establish a new governance structure to monitor the remaining implementation of the program.
The new governance structure has now been established and will help ensure there is clear oversight and monitoring of the progress of the ICA System Transformation Program.
