Mental Health Commission
The State Government has released the Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs Strategy (Strategy) 2026-2031, aligning to Our Priorities for Government 2025-2029.
The Strategy’s purpose is to guide the transformation of Western Australia’s mental health and alcohol and other drugs systems over the next five years to empower and support people, families and communities in their wellbeing.
It outlines Aspirations for systems transformation, with strategic directions aligned to five Strategic Pillars. These Pillars emphasise the importance of prevention and early intervention, and community-based treatment services while also ensuring specialist services are available when needed.
Each Pillar includes Focus Areas that identify priorities for the next five years, guiding what initiatives will be developed and implemented.
Developed through consultation, this Strategy reflects the diverse voices of communities across Western Australia. This includes people with lived and living experience, their families, carers and significant others in every region across the State.
