Mental Health Commission
Advocacy services
Advocacy services work to improve outcomes for individuals, families and communities. Individual Advocacy (IA) services aim to support people with mental health, alcohol and other drug (AOD) issues who have experienced neglect, abuse or discrimination, and can’t advocate for themselves. These services advise, support and act on behalf of people with mental health and/or AOD issues, their families, carers and significant others. These services are usually provided free of charge.
Peak bodies
Peak bodies provide a voice for people with mental health and/or AOD issues, their families, carers, significant others and organisations that provide services. They represent the hopes and concerns of members and promote their interests to the government and the community.
