New community support for people with mental health issues

The Mental Health Commission is opening new step-up step-down mental health facilities throughout Western Australia to help people manage their mental health close to home. The facilities provide short-term residential support for people following hospitalisation for mental illness, or at risk of deteriorating mental health. For some people this can be the best option to promote recovery.

New campaign to combat methamphetamine launched

On Sunday, our new expanded media campaign was launched by Minister for Mental Health Andrea Mitchell MLA, as part of the WA Meth Strategy. The message is that the Meth Helpline is 'here to help' on 1800 874 878 and that 'meth can take control' of your life. The Minister also announced that six drug and alcohol nurses would be placed in hospitals to help busy emergency departments with their specialist expertise.

17 participants return for Strong Spirit Strong Mind training
