On Sunday, our new expanded media campaign was launched by Minister for Mental Health Andrea Mitchell MLA, as part of the WA Meth Strategy. The message is that the Meth Helpline is 'here to help' on 1800 874 878 and that 'meth can take control' of your life. The Minister also announced that six drug and alcohol nurses would be placed in hospitals to help busy emergency departments with their specialist expertise.
The Strong Spirit Strong Mind Aboriginal Programs recently delivered part of its Certificate IV qualification from 17-21 October 2016. The program had 17 participants return from around the State.
On 1 November, Minister for Mental Health Andrea Mitchell MLA announced $6.1 million worth of new drug and alcohol treatment beds will be located in the Perth metropolitan, South West, Goldfields, Midwest and Pilbara regions.
The 2016-17 Budget includes a record $865.8 million for the Mental Health Commission to purchase and deliver services on behalf of the WA community.
