New community mental health step up/step down service for Albany

Published on 30 Jan 2018

The Deputy Premier and Minister for Mental Health today visited Albany to announce a new community mental health step up/step down service.

The service will open later this year on the site of the former Albany Hospice, bringing a new type of mental health service to the Great Southern region.

Step up step down services provide a vital service for people with mental health issues, aiming to support people safely in the community and close to their personal supports from family and friends.

The six-bed facility will be established by the Commission and the WA Country Health Service and will improve the options available for people with mental health issues and their carers in the area.
