Older Adult Mental Health Network

The Mental Health Network includes a unique Network structure.

The Older Adult Mental Health  Network was established on 12 August 2016, to address the difficulty in coordinating such a large network and to support the Mental Health Network to engage with and improve outcomes for specific cohorts of mental health service users.

The establishment of the Older Adult Mental Health Network followed a thorough process that sought to be inclusive, representative and reflect the concerns and views of the sector.

The Older Adult Mental Health Network has a broad membership that is supported by a Steering Committee and is sponsored by the North Metropolitan Health Service.

The Steering Committee is co-chaired by Dr Noel Collins and Ms Merinda March.

The Older Adult Mental Health Network Establishment Report provides background on this Network and can be found here.

The Older Adult Mental Health Network, in collaboration with Hammond Care, have developed the Dementia Support Australia and Older Adult Mental Health Guidelines.  This document has been developed to provide clarity regarding referral pathways for patients with Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia.  To access the document please click here.

In 2018, the Older Adult Mental Health Network provided a submission to the Select Committee into Elder Abuse.  The Select Committee report “I never thought it would happen to me: When trust is broken” is now available on the Parliament of Western Australia website.  To access the submission please click here.
